How Healthy Is Your Water?
Whether you drink tap water, bottled water or filtered water, what makes the water you drink healthy?
Water is essential for life! You can last weeks without food, but only a few days without water. How much you need will vary from person to person depending on your health, how active you are and where you live.
Your body is 80% water - so keep those fluids up or your organs will not function properly. You need about 8 glasses (approximately 2 litres) each and every day. Water is needed for blood plasma, for digestive juices i.e. saliva, it is also need to carry wastes out of the body and of course for bathing to keep the pores of our skin clear and open.
For many people, they don't even get close to drinking the required quantity because they may not like the taste of it or perhaps feel a little bloated after drinking. One of the largest dangers to health is contamination with infectious organisms, which is why health authorities put so much emphasis on the use of chloride and other disinfectants that help prevent water borne diseases.
Bottled Water
Of most concern is a compound called Bisphenol A (BPA), found in plastic water bottles. BPA was originally developed as a synthetic oestrogen. Some scientists have suggest that exposure to BPA and other oestrogen-like may contribute to reproductive issues, breast cancer, and the early onset of puberty in some girls. Links to birth defects, miscarriage, prostate cancer, cardiovascular disease, inflammation, diabetes, liver dysfunction and schizophrenia have also been hypothesised. We recommend to use either a glass bottles or stainless steel bottles.
